3 THEATRE FOR ONE
Theatre for One (T41) is a mobile, state of the art performance space for one performer and one audience member that commissions new work written for one to one encounters presented in private to the public.
Conceived by Artistic Director Christine Jones and designed by LOT-EK architects, Theatre for One commissions new work created specifically for this venue's one-to-one relationship. Embracing serendipity and spontaneity, Theatre for One is presented in public spaces in which audience members are invited to engage in an intimate theatrical exchange and enter the theatre space not knowing what to expect. Actor and audience member encounter each other as strangers in this suspended space and through the course of the performance allow the divisions and distinctions that separate us to dissolve.

5 SOCIAL!
Sound. Light. Your Very Own Spot.
Created as an antidote to social distancing, SOCIAL! turns empty performance spaces into dance spaces. Collaborators David Byrne, Steven Hoggett and Christine Jones have joined forces to create an ecstatic event in which audience members learn a series of dance moves in advance via video, then come together to dance in person in their own 6 ft colored circle and pool of light. By creating safe spaces for us to move together with others, SOCIAL! is a way to access the transcendent experience of being a part of something bigger than ourselves.
See what Vanity Fair and Vogue had to say about SOCIAL!
6 CHORUS OF US
Inspired by Rachel Dewoskin’s poem Too, which was recently published in a collection of poems called Two Menus, I imagine a video piece that features a sustained image of one woman with her mouth open, or of multiple women overlaid one on top of the other with their mouths open, accompanied by a voice reading the poem. I’ve been thinking about how the act of speaking is the catalyst for connection and change. Whether it is with a pen, a chant, or a cry, when women open their mouths, they take ownership. In researching this idea, I was fascinated to note there are few pictures of women (or people), with their mouth open. In some cultures, women’s mouths are covered and their words stifled. These days our mouths are further hidden by masks. An open mouth can be vulnerable or brave; it can be receptive or declarative. We open our mouths when we are overcome with emotion. When we open our mouths, we are a chorus of women.
